Join us one Wednesday a month to receive free instruction in banjo & Black roots music history for Black-identifying community members ages 12 and up. No previous banjo or music experience is required. Classes will culminate in participants doing a short performance together at the next Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival on Saturday, March 21st, 2026. Maximum enrollment: 20 participants.

Classes will be held at the Dock Bookshop, 6637 Meadowbrook Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76112

• The meetups will culminate in a short performance at the next FWAAMFest on March 21st, 2026

Don’t have a banjo? There are 10 class banjos available for rent for participants who don’t own one (deposit and monthly fee required); you can signup for a rental on this site as well. We can also suggest introductory banjo models if you’d like to buy your own.
